Tarmac (or tarmacadam) is the workhorse driveway surface. It goes down fast, copes with heavy vehicles and looks crisp for years when it is laid properly on the right sub-base.
We dig out to depth, lay and compact a 150mm+ MOT Type 1 sub-base, set falls for drainage, install a concrete or block-paved edge, then lay a base course followed by a hot-rolled SMA wearing course rolled tight for a smooth, true finish.
Done right, a tarmac drive will give you 20+ years of solid service with the odd reseal to keep it looking dark and fresh.
